Summary:  This role would encompass management of a $80/year non-operated capital budget – this includes project evaluation and AFE preparation, basin-wide reservoir modeling, forecasting reserves, production, & capital expenditures, as well as, analysis of non-operated partner performance and operating techniques.  Position is also supported with non-op technician.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participation Elections/AFEs
    • Generate, evaluate, and approve/forward AFEs for new drills, recompletions, and other capital projects
      • Prepare economic packages for non-operated AFE proposals
      • In the analysis include offset wells: note completion techniques, well EURs, well spacing, etc.
  • Direct communication (POC) with non-operated partners focusing on the following areas:
    • Costs
    • Reserves
    • Production timing
    • Drilling and completion techniques
      • Reporting
        • Ensure partner activity reports are complete for drilling and completion activities
        • All completion reports are forwarded
          • Fracture stimulation reports
  • Develop reservoir models for each of our significant non-op fields
    • Assist in managing basin-wide Aries database
    • Prepare and review non-op production and capital budget for our Well Spring application
  • Develop and maintain well performance expectations in significant non-op areas (maintain and control type curves for existing and planned wells)
    • Complete offset type curve analysis
    • Perform non-operated production reviews
    • Develop peer comparisons
  • Tracking and forecasting of non-op projects and forecasts
    • Production
    • Capex
    • Opex
  • Review non-operated well performance by operator
    • Maintain and update production type curves by area
    • Track completion techniques and analyze with production type matching
      • Stage spacing
      • Proppant
        • Type, ie., sand or ceramic
        • lb/per lat-ft
        • PPA concentrations
      • Fluid design
        • Fluid type
        • Pump schedules
    • Track non-op AFEs
      • AFE vs. actual performance
    • Prepare post analysis of non-operated performance

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • A strong background in reservoir evaluations and public company reserve reporting required
  • Strong business skills and ability to review and analyze lease operating statements
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
    • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
    • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
    • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
    • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
    • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Petroleum Engineering or equivalent
  • 5- 10 years’ experience or equivalent education and/or experience
  • Bakken Experience preferred
  • ARIES experience required
