Newfield Exploration is seeking to hire a Reservoir Engineer for a full-time position in the Corporate Development (CD) group.  CD is a dynamic team of commercial and engineering professionals which manages several key strategic initiatives for Newfield across finance, planning and corporate and asset level M&A.  The group interacts daily with executive management and senior leadership throughout the company.

Detailed Description

  • Reservoir Engineer proficient in performing  technical evaluations of different scales
  • Able to perform technical analysis to support decisions involving:
    • M&A and A&D initiatives
    • Long-term company strategy
    • Capital allocation
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team to characterize technical and economic assumptions
  • Able to translate competing points of view into economics scenarios
  • Able to efficiently model and communicate complex problems
  • Ensure evaluations are consistent and aligned with corporate plans, data, and constraints
  • Assist in developing management presentations and external investor presentations
  • Assist asset teams with project analysis and economic evaluations
  • Help manage cross-functional project work and creation of presentations for executive and senior management
  • Additional projects may include:
  • Preparation of materials for Board of Directors
  • Basin analysis
  • Monitoring and evaluation of industry and Peer group trends and activities
  • Developing financial models to evaluate internal and Peer performance

Job Requirements

  • 4-7 years of reservoir engineering experience  including project generation and economic analysis
  • Experience in working unconventional resource play
  • Demonstrates analytical abilities
  • Knowledge of financial analysis, industry trends, performance and standard metrics
  • Proficient in basic statistical analysis
  • Demonstrates ability to analyze extensive amounts of data and information quickly
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to work independently
  • Positive attitude and commitment to acting as a team player
  • Software: Proficient using  Aries, MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Working knowledge of Spotfire, ArcGis preferable
