Crescent Point is currently seeking to fill the following position:


Job Title:          Reservoir Engineer

Location:          Calgary, Alberta

Reports to:       Manager, Reservoir Engineering - West
The following will provide you with basic guidelines as to the duties required of this position.




The Reservoir Engineer will be responsible for assisting the management of the company’s large oil properties and several waterfloods in western Saskatchewan and Alberta.  The reservoirs may include clastics and carbonates.  In addition, the Reservoir Engineer will assist with the design, optimization and implementation of new waterflood schemes where applicable.


Main Responsibilities & Activities:


  • Manage a wide range of reservoir engineering projects relating to specific oil and gas properties
  • Perform full field reservoir surveillance including monitoring voidage replacement, recommending injection volumes and optimizing the waterflood patterns
  • Identify value adding opportunities such as reactivations, recompletions, reservoir designed stimulation techniques, development drilling locations and down spacing
  • Identify, develop and execute optimization and enhancement schemes to improve overall pool recoveries
  • Coordinate and build simulation models for use in evaluating well design, waterflood optimization and reservoir depletion plans
  • Coordinate and analyze reservoir pressure data and pressure transient analysis
  • Recommend, organize and analyze technical studies, such as advanced core analysis and fluid-rock / fluid-fluid compatibilities
  • Assist with the creation of short term and long term development strategies
  • Research, investigate and implement possible tertiary recovery pilots and provide technical and economic support for pilot expansion
  • Work closely with the area exploitation engineers, geologists and operations staff
  • Assist with resource applications to the respective provincial regulators
  • Present projects to the executive, management team and board of directors
  • Play a key role in the evaluation of potential acquisitions, ranging from property to corporate evaluations
  • Assist in the corporate reserve process with our independent engineering consultants

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


  • University degree in engineering is required
  • Current P.Eng. designation with APEGA membership is required
  • Minimum 5 years of reservoir engineering experience in the oil and gas industry is required
  • Experience with oil field and waterflood development is required
  • Proficiency in the use of comprehensive oilfield management software including simulation software for the analysis of reservoir and waterflood performance as well as completion optimization including fracture design
  • Strong technical knowledge of reservoir, rock parameters and fluid dynamics
  • Experience in reserve evaluations and acquisition evaluations would be an asset
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in well and reservoir analysis, Accumap, OFM, CMG Suite, Visage/Verdazo, Value Navigator, IHS (Fekete Harmony), PEEP, FieldView and MS Office applications
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Team player who enjoys learning and contributing to team goals
