The Chief Reservoir Engineering team has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Reservoir Engineering Advisor. This individual will be a key member of the Chief’s organization, leading Encana’s reservoir engineering community in solving key technical challenges, improving the efficiency of overall workflows and collaborating on technical learnings. This position can be based in Denver, CO or The Woodlands, TX.
Responsibilities :
coordinate Reservoir Engineering community efforts to collaboratively identify and solve key technical problems, leading to the most impactful contribution to Encana’s potential and results
improve overall Reservoir Engineering evaluation efficiency, consistency, and quality by developing, delivering, and maintaining RE best practice workflows
ensure key learnings are quickly and effectively communicated across the company as warranted
support the Reserves and Depletion Planning processes
peer review and advise on asset technical reviews and project decision-making events
ensure staff have access to the right tools and software to do their jobs effectively
mentor and consult with staff on career development plans, goals, and aspirations
work with HR, establish and coordinate RE technical training and RE capabilities matrix
advocate for innovation by researching and recommending new technologies that support reservoir engineering and reservoir characterization
Qualifications :
must be legally eligible to work in the US
minimum fifteen (15) years of upstream oil & gas experience with an emphasis in reservoir engineering and development
Bachelor or Masters degree in engineering
an established and respected technical leader in the organization who people seek out for assistance in reservoir engineering problem-solving
self-starter with the ability to tackle large, complex, and challenging problems
technical and evaluation skills:
very strong overall reservoir engineering skills
extensive hands-on knowledge of decline analysis and type well development
working knowledge of RTA and reservoir simulation methods, approach, and limitations
proficiency dealing with multi-phase systems including PVT analysis, equation of state modeling, and the impact on evaluations
strong knowledge of horizontal well technology and hydraulic fracture stimulation design and analysis
strong knowledge of geological, geophysical, geomechanical, and petrophysical concepts
knowledge of analytical evaluations including multi-variant regression
experience with field data acquisition, pilot design, laboratory research and testing associated with fluid/reservoir/geo-mechanical characterization, and primary and improved/enhanced oil recovery estimation and optimization
background in economic modelling and play evaluation from appraisal to development
comfortable with probabilistic economic evaluation concepts and uncertainty analysis
development planning optimization for well spacing, staking, and completion design
Software skills: solid skills and history of using standard reservoir engineering and evaluation tools
strong communication and interpersonal skills
ability to build a strong network with Encana’s reservoir engineers and to lead special projects
excellent presentation skills, able to speak clearly and confidently to upper management and peer groups on both formal and informal platforms – including RE best practices training courses
