Job Title: : Research Geophysicist
General Description: : The Research Geophysicist will be responsible for research and development (R&D;) in seismic inversion, anisotropic analysis, seismic attribute analyses, and various relevant geophysical technologies as part of a multi-disciplinary reservoir geophysics R&D; team. Strong algorithm development and implementation skills are required. Candidate should have proven track record in geophysical R&D; with at least 5 years of industrial applications.
Research and develop in inversion technologies, anisotropic modeling and analysis, converted waves, diffraction imaging and inversion, various seismic attribute analyses, DHI and rock physical analyses.
Track and analyze technology trends in geophysics and prepare solid technical reports for management and other parties as required
Complete quality projects timely and within budgets.
Collaborate with team members in geophysics and other disciplines such as geology, petrophysics and computer science.
Participate in industry technical consortia, conferences, extend current industry network.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Solid understanding of seismic wave propagation, numerical analysis, and related signal processing technologies.
Experience with inversion, imaging, migration, anisotropic analysis, converted waves, diffraction imaging and inversion, various seismic attribute analyses, DHI and rock physical analyses is strong plus.
Strong programming skills in C/C++, FORTRAN.
Familiar with Linux and high performance computing systems.
Ability to track, analyze new technology trends, and write concise in-depth reports.
Strong ability to meet deadlines and manage time efficiently while multi-tasking.
Team player with good interpersonal communication skills.
Professional attitude and demeanor in dealing with all levels of staff, vendors and customers.
High degree of integrity, responsible and self-discipline.
Must be able to prepare PowerPoint presentations to share project based information.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, LICENSES and EXPERIENCE: :
Master’s Degree in Geophysics, or related disciplines such as mathematics, physics, Electrical Engineering or computer science, is required from an accredited university.
5+ years’ working experience in geophysics in oil and gas industry.
Some domestic and international travel may be required. < 5% Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License with acceptable driving record. No Relocation extended. * * No Agency Referrals * * *
