Description

Join our Space Sciences and Engineering Division and work with a team to acquire and conduct technical projects and field training courses pertaining to structural geology and geomechanics for commercial and government clients. Conduct independent and group project work; including collecting, analyzing, and interpreting structural geologic and related data, presenting project results to clients and at scientific meetings and publishing in peer-reviewed literature. Lead business development activities in support of the structural geology and geomechanics program area; including proposal development and direct client interaction. Provide mentoring to junior staff.
Education/Experience:
Requires a MS degree in geology, geoscience, geomechanics, rock mechanics, or related area with at least 3 years of experience. Must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Those with a PhD and 0 years of experience will also be considered. Experience in one or more of these areas is required: field-based structural geology characterization, mechanical stratigraphic characterization of outcrops and core, cross-section construction and restoration, fracture analysis of outcrops and core, numerical geomechanical modeling, stress analysis, and/or petroleum geology. Must be able to conduct independent research and present results at scientific meetings and client offices and publish in peer-reviewed journals. Experience with one or more of the following is desirable: Python or other programming languages, ArcGIS, oil and gas geological interpretation and modeling software (e.g., Petrel, Move), and/or numerical modeling software (e.g., Abaqus, Elfen, Flac, PFC). Frequent travel will be required. Professional geologist registration in Texas or other states (or ability to acquire) is desirable. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
