Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Research Reservoir Engineer, based in Aberdeen
Responsibilities will include:
Conduct research into one or more of the reservoir engineering projects (coding algorithms and testing them on synthetic and real data) in accordance with the defined work plan, under the supervision of the team and/or Project Leader.
Develop a sound understanding of best technical practice and apply this routinely.
Develop contacts with Company staff as necessary for the execution of projects, and develop contacts outside the Company to assist same.
Maintain awareness of new developments in the field of projects undertaken.
Initiate studies/ analyses to resolve technical issues.
Report research results in written form and through internal/ external (conference) presentations.
Produce all work to appropriate quality and on time whilst accepting individual responsibility for their activities.
Participate in the interchange of ideas and knowledge within a research pluri-disciplinary environment.
Qualifications & Experience
Entry level position:
Preferably PhD in Res. Engineering or Petroleum Geosciences related discipline with possibly some relevant experience in a professional environment.
Familiar with principles of multi-phase flow in porous media, hydrocarbon phase behaviour, oil recovery processes, reservoir modelling and simulation.
In depth knowledge of one or more technical field related to applied reservoir engineering: computational fluid mechanics, optimization, numerical analysis, geo-statistics, reservoir monitoring, history matching, etc.
Computer and workstation literacy and familiarity with reservoir modelling and simulation software.
Computer programming skills.
Report-writing and communication skills (presentation and intra-team communication).
