Location:Schlumberger Stavanger Research (SSR), Stavanger,NorwaySSR’s mandateis to develop and deliver innovative technology for subsurface interpretation withfocus on multi-disciplinary tools and workflows for geophysical reservoircharacterization, advanced well placement, and reservoir management and IORthrough the automated analysis and modeling of surface and subsurface measurementdata. Job Summary:The Schlumberger Research Geologist uses his/her scientificexpertise under general supervision to support research projects and recommend scientificapproaches and solutions. The position reports to the SSR Geology DisciplineManager and Program Managers. The successful position holder is an excellent communicator,enjoys solving problems, has technical presentation skills, works well in teams,learns quickly and is able to apply knowledge gained.Essential Responsibilities and Duties: Conducts scientific research undergeneral supervision, typically in support of an overall research project.Employs standard scientificprinciples, theories and concepts, and develops new workflows and technologies.Makes independent decisions onroutine issues and methods and recommends scientific approaches and solutions.Presents and communicates toexternal clients.Coordinates/communicates workefforts within the research organization and has external contacts.Has a deep understanding in own areaof scientific expertise and works to expand breadth of technical knowledge.Is respected as a leading scientificexpert within a Center.Interacts with other Schlumbergerengineers and scientists worldwide in domain of expertise.May supervise support staff/internsand/or coordinate the technical work of others.Publishes scientific papers, appliesfor patents and attends conferences.Promotes teamwork, communication andsharing of information among projects involving domain of expertise.Reviews and stimulates efforts of scientistsand support staff.Is an active mentor within the TechnicalCommunity.Participates in university relations,and orientation of new scientists. Previous Experience and Competencies:The candidate holds a PhD or MSc in Geology with 3-5 yearsof experience in academia and/or industry. Scientific knowledge and experiencein one or more of the following fields is preferableReservoir characterizationWell-centric reservoir analysisPetroleum systems analysisSeismic interpretation usingdedicated software solutionsStratigraphic and tectonicinterpretationWell logs interpretationBasic knowledge of geophysicalmeasurements (e.g. electromagnetic)Stratigraphic forward modellingUnconventionalsGeomechanics / Rock physics
