SSR's mandate

is to develop and deliver innovative technology for subsurface interpretation with

focus on multi-disciplinary tools and workflows for geophysical reservoir

characterization, advanced well placement, and reservoir management and IOR

through the automated analysis and modeling of surface and subsurface measurement

data.

Job Summary:

The Schlumberger Research Geologist uses his/her scientific

expertise under general supervision to support research projects and recommend scientific

approaches and solutions. The position reports to the SSR Geology Discipline

Manager and Program Managers.

The successful position holder is an excellent communicator,

enjoys solving problems, has technical presentation skills, works well in teams,

learns quickly and is able to apply knowledge gained.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Conducts scientific research under

general supervision, typically in support of an overall research project.
Employs standard scientific

principles, theories and concepts, and develops new workflows and technologies.
Makes independent decisions on

routine issues and methods and recommends scientific approaches and solutions.
Presents and communicates to

external clients.
Coordinates/communicates work

efforts within the research organization and has external contacts.
Has a deep understanding in own area

of scientific expertise and works to expand breadth of technical knowledge.
Is respected as a leading scientific

expert within a Center.
Interacts with other Schlumberger

engineers and scientists worldwide in domain of expertise.
May supervise support staff/interns

and/or coordinate the technical work of others.
Publishes scientific papers, applies

for patents and attends conferences.
Promotes teamwork, communication and

sharing of information among projects involving domain of expertise.
Reviews and stimulates efforts of scientists

and support staff.
Is an active mentor within the Technical

Community.
Participates in university relations,

and orientation of new scientists.

Previous Experience and Competencies:

The candidate holds a PhD or MSc in Geology with 3-5 years

of experience in academia and/or industry. Scientific knowledge and experience

in one or more of the following fields is preferable
Reservoir characterization
Well-centric reservoir analysis
Petroleum systems analysis
Seismic interpretation using

dedicated software solutions
Stratigraphic and tectonic

interpretation
Well logs interpretation
Basic knowledge of geophysical

measurements (e.g. electromagnetic)
Stratigraphic forward modelling
Unconventionals
Geomechanics / Rock physics
