Emerson seeks a self-motivated seismic processing industry professional for the position of Applications Geoscientist in Emerson’s E&P; Software organization with a focus on delivering high quality software products. This role will work closely with a global team of exploration and software experts including peer quality assurance specialists, software engineers, technical writers, geologists and geophysicists.
Become thoroughly familiar with Emerson’s software products, becoming an expert in Echos, GeoDepth, ES360, and Epos data management
Work in close coordination with a dedicated team of exploration and software development experts in local and remote offices
Load and maintain data to be used in testing seismic processing applications
Design test plans, create work estimates, communicate plans with team members, execute according to plan, plan for and manage risks, adjust plans and notify team members and management as necessary
Thoroughly test the software according to good software testing practices and report issues, finding problems as early as possible
Provide unambiguous detailed problem reports
Be the champion for quality throughout the release cycle
Provide expert internal Tier 2 level product support for the products you work on
Strong experience and understanding of seismic data and processing
Strong experience with the Linux/UNIX operating system, high performance computing clusters and file systems
Experience with software development lifecycle in a commercial software environment
Experience testing large scale commercial software
Prior Oil & Gas industry experience either as a vendor, service provider, or exploration company
Cloud and web-based experience is a plus
Excellent communication skills in all modes: written, verbal, face-to-face and virtual meetings
MS or Phd degree in Geoscience, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or related field or BS degree and a minimum 3 years of experience in seismic processing in the Oil and Gas industry
