Joining a regional team and reporting to the Regional Manager, the successful candidate will provide geological and/or geophysical interpretations, specifically related to Sedimentology and Mineralogy, research and training for oil and gas companies related to exploration, working within a team.
The candidate must be able to contribute to projects using a range of techniques and processes relating to Sedimentology and Mineralogy. They must have the ability to independently and accurately generate and interpret data and prepare professional reports related to their specific discipline either in the office or at other locations.
The incumbent will undertake core description, facies analysis and depositional modelling as well as conducting petrographic analysis utilising light microscopy, automated mineralogy (QEMSCAN) techniques, SEM and XRD in the assessment of detrital and authigenic mineralogy, phases of diagenesis and controls on reservoir quality.
You will develop mineralogical techniques within the sedimentology discipline and market the QEMSCAN technology and discipline.
There may also be a requirement to undertake on location work such as wellsite or core logging. This role will require international travel to some extent, and some direct interaction with clients. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be educated to BSc level or above in Geology, Geophysics or Geoscience and ideally have a Masters (or above) in a Geoscience subject.
Experience in Oil & Gas consultancy would be desirable along with other language skills.
You will have excellent Microsoft office skills and good knowledge of Mineralogy and / or QEMSCAN techniques.
Skills in wellcad, iDiscover, IC and other industry software would be advantageous.
