PETRONAS Canada currently has a vacancy for a Production Technologist to join our team in Calgary, managing oil & gas properties within the Foothills of North East British Columbia. Reporting to the Team Lead, Production Engineering, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing production expertise and technical support to the Production Engineering team including the management of regulatory, suspension, abandonment, and testing activities associated with the development and ongoing operations of oil and gas assets. This includes recommending, planning, and executing programs and plans with economic rigor to support both regulatory requirements and company objectives, while assisting the production engineering team in maintaining base production values through analysis, research, and optimization support. The incumbent must have experience in the Oil & Gas Industry and be able to demonstrate a collaborative, proactive and solution oriented attitude.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Administer the regulatory testing program for all well assets, including planning, contracting, analysis, regulatory submission, and contractor management.
Plan, execute, and optimize the well liability program including wellbore deactivations, suspensions, vent flow mitigation, and abandonment, aligned with regulatory requirements and company objectives
Assist the production engineering team in monitoring, analysis and forecasting of well production to identify potential optimization opportunities and bottlenecks
Support the production engineers to design and manage down hole well service slick line and rig work, including work overs, artificial lift optimization and regulatory suspension work
Work with field operations staff to manage surface equipment and pipeline integrity programs
Coordinate regulatory requirements for the fields and deal with authorities as required
Required Education, Experience and Skills
Completion of an accredited Technologist diploma is an asset
Minimum of 5 years of progressively more responsible experience within the oil and gas industry with exposure to natural gas
Exposure to BC operations, OGC regulations and field experience would be an asset
