Your interest in working for Shell Australia is the first step towards a great career that focuses on securing an energy future for generations to come. Shell Australia can offer you a platform from which you can propel your career and work on projects as diverse as the game-changing Prelude FLNG, industry-leading QGC project in Queensland, or our range of upstream exploration and development opportunities. Shell has been in Australia since 1901. Today Shell Australia is focused largely in the upstream sector, especially in the exploration, development and production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and oil.
The purpose of the position is to support the QGC CWE (Collaborative Work Environment) in optimising performance of wells and gathering. In doing so, the role will play a key part in extraction of maximum value from the asset during the Operate phase in line with the Wells, Reservoir and Facility Management objective which is to Safely move hydrocarbons from reservoir pore throat to sales point, at lowest possible cost.
The role is accountable for analysing well and gathering system performance against both safe and optimal operating envelopes to identify risks and opportunities to future production.
The role has five clearly defined areas to perform:
Well sub-surface performance analysis - Monitor performance against Operations well optimisation strategy to identify optimisation opportunities and/or sub-surface deliverability risks
Gathering System surveillance - Monitor gathering system performance using developed models to identify excursions from safe operating envelopes and/or sub-optimal pressure performance
Report development, execution & automation - Develop, execute, and if required, automate reports that provide insight into well performance for both ICE and asset leadership
Production Systems - Support the development of production systems within QGC to automate and embed performance management & WRFM processes e.g. WellTracker workflows; IFM routines; data warehouse & Reporting DB requirements; spotfire functionality
Leadership & Supervision - Provide visible leadership and direction for wells and gathering surveillance within QGC
Tertiary level education in Petroleum and/or Reservoir Engineering; augmented by significant subsurface experience you must have a strong understanding and experience in the use of production systems for monitoring real-time operations.
You will be familiar with large scale data analysis and reporting using data warehouses and BI tools e.g. Spotfire and ideally have prior experience in working in a CWE dealing with competing daily operational priorities. You be highly numerate and have strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to analyse large amounts of data/trends and spot anomalies.
Having Strong MS Excel skills and developed in technical and engineering writing you will be able to develop policies and procedures and have the ability to prioritise and consistently meet deadlines.
