We are partnered with an ASX-listed oil and gas exploration, development and production company with headquarters based in Sydney and assets located internationally.

The Production Operations Engineer will support the Development Manager in consolidating and analysing the production data of the company’s non-operated assets while identifying potential production optimisation and operating cost reductions. For the company’s operated assets, this position will provide technical support for ongoing development planning activities.

Responsibilities for the operated assets:
Support of ongoing multi-discipline development planning activities for upstream gas / condensate fields
Input to the preparation of operations and maintenance philosophies
Help define scope, execution plan, cost and schedule estimates and assist/participate in communicating the same to all stakeholders
Assist in commercial matters including providing all necessary input data for economic modelling
Maintain HSE/OI focus within the team to ensure associated requirements are incorporated in design and procurement and executed in the field
Monitor, analyze, forecast, proactively correct as necessary, and communicate project performance (safety, quality, cost & schedule) to achieve project objectives
Follow-up on and ensure closure of all identified risks, associated mitigation measures and opportunities
Input to the preparation of regulatory applications and associated audit binders
Provide facilities technical support for opportunity planning, evaluation, definition, execution and operations
Responsibilities for non-operated assets:
Receive, consolidate and analyse production data and identification of trends
Identify production optimisation opportunities
Artificial lift optimisation – including preparation of well inflow / outflow curves, ESP selection and, based on available production data, assessment of optimum pump operating conditions
Provide support to the Subsurface Department in the development of corporate production forecasts
Weekly internal production reporting
Maintenance of production databases
Review of Operator pump tear down reports
Review of multi-phase and custody transfer flow meter data (including calibration data)
Input to the company’s asset management plans
Review of Operators’ weekly and monthly progress reports
Review of the Operators’ operations and maintenance cost breakdowns
Identify potential areas for operating cost reductions
Experience required:
Bachelor of Engineering (Petroleum or Process)
5 - 10 years’ oil and gas industry experience ideally with an operating company
Good technical understanding of reservoir and wellbore behaviour
Exposure to mature offshore facilities an advantage
Experience in the use of production reporting applications
Advanced interpersonal and team work skills
Excellent report writing and presentation skills
Results driven self-starter and ability to work autonomously
Chinese language fluency desirable
