Production EngineerJob Summary: Production Engineer is responsible for managing the manufacturing process plan of products - including the establishment of reliable, Lean manufacturing processes for production units. He/she is a key interface between Engineering and Manufacturing, and will typically be an expert in areas such as machining, process planning (Lean), test procedures, as well as select special processes such various molding concepts, etc.Company Overview: Omni Seals, located in Rancho Cucamonga, CA, is a business unit of Schlumberger, Inc. the world’s leading supplier of premium products and services to the oil and gas exploration and production industry, the petrochemical industry and other industrial markets. Omni Seals provides high-quality custom-molded seals and rubber products to diverse industries worldwide, including oil and gas, aerospace, valve and pump manufacturing, mining, agricultural, food handling, plumbing, and aerospace industries.Essential Responsibilities: Responsible for developing/maintaining data (and systems) for measuring operator/shift/shop performance including competencies, downtime, productivity, quality, and HSE.Responsible for the implementation of key elements of Lean, such as: standardized work instructions, line balancing, layout and work sequence (routing) optimization, training development matrix, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen/5S workouts, pull processes, TPM (total preventive maintenance), cell design, and quick changeover/batch-size optimization.Responsible for developing analytics to understand machine downtime and recommend preventive maintenance measures to ensure downtime is minimized.Identify and provide equipment and supplies, etc. needed so that the work progresses in an efficient, safe, and orderly manner. Recommend and participate in CAPEX projects.Provide shop floor feedback on product design and manufacturability issues to Engineering and DFMs (e.g. through the use of Engineering Change Requests - ECRs)Implement process improvements to achieve manufacturing excellence in areas such as process yield, cycle time reduction and productivity.Communicate with operators and identify HSE risks in current processes while preventing and mitigating those risks.Recommending updates to Routers including process times, work centers and information to assist in capacity management, planning and cost management.Coordinate operator issues with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering and management to resolutionMay assign, direct and review work of, and provide mentor for technicians and junior engineersComplies with company policies, including Personnel, Quality System and Health, Safety and Environment standards and procedures.Must be able to participate in US Government related projects. US Citizenship or Greencard is required.Education: MS in Industrial, Mechanical Engineering with 2-3 years related experience / BS in Engineering with 6-5 years related experience or equivalent combination of higher degree and experience.Key Competencies: Entry level position with a listed technical degree and strong interest in manufacturing.
