Position Overview

Repsol Oil & Gas Canada Inc. has an opening for a Production Engineer that will be responsible for developing, maintaining and analyzing network and integrated production/injection system models for a range of assets across Western Canada. The role, reporting to the Manager of Production Engineering, will be located in Calgary, AB and will be focused on identifying causes of, and proposing corrective actions for, production deferment, identifying and pursuing initiatives to reduce operating costs and supporting the greater production operations organization in their effort to increase the efficiency of day-to-day operations.

Required Ability and Knowledge
Candidate will have extensive knowledge of physical pipeline systems, their operation and pressure drop calculations for a variety of fluid systems including single phase gas, single phase liquid and multiphase
Ability to perform both steady-state and transient pipeline network analysis with appropriate software packages
Ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience and proficiency with evaluating and modelling well deliverability and artificial lift

Develop network models for high well count and complex networks.
Develop and implement sustainability plans for network and production/injection system models
Identify and quantify hydraulic impacts of system on-loads and off-loads and estimate associated production impacts
Identify opportunities for gathering/injection network upgrades that reduce flowing / pumping pressure and estimate the associated production impacts
Evaluate & recommend tie-in locations for new development wells
Support the development of leak detection applications
Evaluate pipeline/network performance opportunities and provides input into operating philosophies/improvements (ie. designing or optimizing pigging programs)

Engineering Degree
5-10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, focused in network analysis and/or production/injection system modeling
Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with APEGA
Valid Class V Drivers Licence (Some travel will be required)
Language proficiency: fluent in English
Demonstrated proficiency in the following software: PIPESIM, PIPEFLO, OLGA, Aspen HYSYS
