This Production Engineer is accountable for the design and implementation of Asset annual development plans. This includes informal leadership of a project team consisting of a Facilities Engineer and Value Stream Manager. Additional people that you will be working with include: Asset Reservoir and Geological Engineers, Operations staff, Drilling Engineers, IRT staff, Engineering Tech’s and Associates, regulatory compliance staff, subsurface TPR, purchasing staff, and finance staff.
New producers and injectors with their associated volumes which requires:
AFE quality cost estimates
Monthly Spend Plan estimates
Schedule Creation and Maintenance
Adherence to Design Standards (Sub-surface and surface)
Roles and Responsibilities
Work closely with asset teams to plan and implement replacement, infill, and development drilling projects
Coordinate with Drilling team and Development Facility Engineers & VSM’s to deliver cost estimates for drilling, recompletion, conversion, and refrac projects.
Assemble and administer AFE packages
Maintain project schedules and provide analysis as regulatory requirements and changing business priorities arise.
Deliver accurate monthly spend plans by project through year end
Perform RCFA’s, Kaizen’s and participate in SDI process in order to decrease new well costs, decrease cycle times, improve Development team’s quality metrics and improve data management processes.
Shepherd projects through the Kern County, DOGGR, BLM, and other permitting processes and ensure compliance to permit conditions
Become fully integrated into the frac permitting process and have full comprehension of SB 4 regulations to ensure Aera’s compliance and that we receive frac permits in an acceptable time frame.
Provide technical support interfacing with DOGGR and the State & Regional Water Boards in the frac permitting space
Work with contractors to ensure availability of crews, equipment, tools, and materials of various lead times
Manage scope changes of all sub-surface defects and warranty issues and provide technical solutions to a myriad of sub-surface problems that occur.
Ability to apply engineering principles
Ability to focus/concentrate on specific task in an open air environment
Able to periodically work in an outdoor field environment
Able to wear personal protective equipment when required
Sub-surface knowledge; well design, completions, workovers, artificial lift and stimulation
Familiarity with common Sub-surface challenges and their mitigation:
Poor cement jobs
Short pump run times
High temp wells
Poor injector profiles
Use of EBS, MS Access, OpenWells, LEGO, MS Project, and ArcMap
Good communication skills
Good collaboration skills
Ability to work under stringent and shifting timelines
Travel to various field locations
Experience with Lean principles, methods and tools
Strong problem-solving and RCFA skills
Sub-surface experience required.
