Role synopsis

The Production Engineer will report to the Production and Optimization Team Leader. The position is responsible for the downhole and artificial lift engineering activity for assigned wells and managing those wells to optimize value. Candidate will also optimize fluid flow from the reservoir sandface through the sales meter, timely deliver and execute high quality compliant procedures, and support operations to ensure the successful delivery of plans. Strong operational well intervention and workover experience necessary.

Key accountabilities

  • Optimize well performance by working closely with field Operators and Optimizers
  • Seek and follow up on the use of innovative new technology that has the potential to improve productivity, reduce costs, and/ or enhance safety performance
  • Identify and prioritize wellwork opportunities
  • Prepare and implement well optimization plans
  • Propose and support rate adding, rate protecting, compliance and surveillance/diagnostic well investment opportunities
  • Ensure well data is maintained (e.g. well history, wellbore diagrams, production plots, etc.)
  • Support RE in updating reserve curves
  • Deliver timely and accurate wellwork procedures that are in conformance to applicable company standards and processes and in compliance with regulations
  • Deliver activity set and performance plan while demonstrating continuous improvement in assigned wellwork activities
  • Facilitate learning’s from Post Well Reviews with input from Operations teams
  • Investigate, analyze, and understand competitor and partner performance in the BU
  • Support Operations by providing daily operational and engineering technical support
  • Manage the cost cycle including invoice approval and resolution
  • Serve as an integration point between BU Operations and BU Capital Development Teams
  • Support well handover process and startup
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to team members
  • Complete modules and necessary training as defined by L48 Development Offer

Foster personal development by making regular wellsite visits for execution of well procedures and production operations activities

Essential Education

BS in Petroleum or other Engineering disciplines

Essential experience and job requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years Engineering experience for oil and gas wells
  • A strong track record of the engineering aspects of well intervention & workover
  • A strong track record as a Production Engineer including expertise in artificial lift
  • Design and planning skills, personal commitment and proactive approach to HSSE, and willingness to coach and mentor
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills, and network building, demonstrated by an ability to work across teams.
  • If Houston-based, willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time to the field location in order to fulfill the responsibilities of this position as needed

Skilled in MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
