As one of the largest oil and gas companies in the U.S., we continually strive to be the best in the business. Our greatest asset has been, and will continue to be, our people. We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Asset Production Engineer within our Permian Resources New Mexico Business Unit based in Houston, Texas.
This business unit’s objective is to grow production by developing new fields with an emphasis on unconventional reservoirs. The successful candidate will work within a multi-disciplinary asset team which includes reservoir engineers, geologists, petrophysicists, facility engineers, and field operations personnel to help deliver business unit targets. Primary responsibility is to optimize oil and gas production at the well and field level. The successful candidate will demonstrate creativity, motivation, and teamwork necessary to challenge and optimize current artificial lift systems and field operation practices. Additional cross-functional team support and collaboration will include Planning, Land, Finance, Production Revenue & Accounting, Drilling, Completion, Facilities, Development, Well Analysis & Design, Reserves, Midstream, and Supply Chain.
This position is eligible to work the 9/80 work schedule.
Essential Job Duties:
Lead the well surveillance process to identify and carry out production improvement opportunities on wells, facilities, and operations.
Identify production optimization work such as recompletions, workovers/stimulation, and lift revision candidates.
Generate cost estimates, economics, procedures, and AFE’s for production optimization work.
Select the appropriate artificial lift system by examining the drawdown potential of each method, operating expense, range of production volume at required depth, and special capability to handle production issues such as sand/scale/wellbore deviation.
Design artificial lift systems for horizontal and vertical wells with various producing depths and fluid types.
Provide production engineering support for new well design and operation.
Work closely with the field to optimize artificial lift methods and facility performance.
Recommend modifications and/or investments to upgrade systems to reduce operating costs.
Perform monthly “at your desk” well reviews and lead periodic wells reviews by exception with reservoir engineers, geologists, and field personnel.
Conduct post audit reviews of workover costs and well performance to deliver economic programs.
Mentor less experienced engineers and interns.
BS degree in Engineering; PE, ME, or ChemE with a minimum of 5 years of production engineering experience or equivalent
Knowledge and experience in operating/designing Gas Lift, ESP and Beam wells
Demonstrated experience with Gas Lift Systems, individual well surveillance/optimization, and associated network modeling is a must:
Selecting the appropriate gas lift systems and equipment for different well conditions (tubing flow, annular flow, intermittent lift, gas lift assisted plunger, chamber lift)
Central and individual gas lift compression
Designing continuous-flow: annular and tubular
Develop artificial lift surveillance processes, tools and best practices that maximize production and minimize costs
Create multiphase network models to optimize gas injection rates and identify surface constraints (PipeSim, GAP)
Significant experience with gas lift individual modelling software used for design and surveillance of gas lifted wells such as PROSPER/WellFlo/WinGLUE
Provide in-house expertise and training to engineering and operations personnel.
Demonstrated ability or capacity to use engineering skills to solve problems and monitor and analyze your asset performance to enhance production
Ability to interact and communicate (written and verbal) effectively with team members, other departments, and working interest partners to define, sell, and execute value adding work

Experience in Permian Basin operations
Experience in unconventional reservoir operations
Good working knowledge of drilling, completion, production, facilities, and operations
Working knowledge of lean thinking and other process improvement techniques a plus
