TGS provides multi-client geoscience data to oil and gas Exploration and Production companies worldwide. In addition to extensive global geophysical and geological data libraries that include multi-client seismic data, magnetic and gravity data, digital well logs, production data and directional surveys, TGS also offers advanced processing and imaging services, interpretation products, permanent reservoir monitoring and data integration solutions.
The Processing Geophysicist will work on seismic processing projects and will be successful in executing production processing and quality control of intermediate and final products, all in a timely fashion
Duties and Responsibilities
Completes assigned tasks, ensuring projects meet or exceed quality and turnaround objectives
Successful execution of production processing and quality control, and may act as Lead Geophysicist on some processing projects
Ability to fix basic geophysical and software-related problems, and may test and implement common signal processing and imaging technologies, often with assistance from Geophysical Advisors
Ensure procedures are correctly undertaken on assigned processing projects
IF acting as Lead Geophysicist: Day-to-day guidance of staff assigned to your processing project, and preparation for and hosting meetings for internal and external clients
Ensure proper use of assigned disk and computer allocation
Maintain accurate production records and status reporting
Ensure high quality velocity model building
Preparation and shipping of final data deliverables on assigned processing projects
Take responsibility for your own safety and the safety of other employees, and comply with all instructions given regarding health, safety and the protection of the environment.
Ensure the correct use of safety devices and protective equipment as required and report any hazards, accidents or injuries to your immediate supervisor.
Bachelors degree in Geophysics, Geology, Physics or Math is preferred, or demonstrable equivalent experience.
Background in time and depth imaging would be an advantage
Experience with UNIX and/or Linux based software packages and workstations.
Motivated to produce superior quality products while adhering to project timelines
Can multi-task and is good at setting priorities
Strong communication skills
Enjoys working in a team environment but can work independently
Proficient in the use of MS Office, especially PowerPoint, Excel and Word
