TGS provides multi-client geoscience data to oil and gas Exploration and Production companies worldwide. In addition to extensive global geophysical and geological data libraries that include multi-client seismic data, magnetic and gravity data, digital well logs, production data and directional surveys, TGS also offers advanced processing and imaging services, interpretation products, permanent reservoir monitoring and data integration solutions.
Responsible for directing the development of leading-edge technical solutions, driving technical innovation to support seismic data processing in the local Data Processing Center, in close coordination with other TGS Imaging Centers. Through research and development, this position will also provide support for improving the technical quality of the seismic products and services offered at the Center. The candidate is expected to closely monitor technology trends in the industry and academia, especially within the assigned region, and participate in the development of innovative technology in collaboration with TGS’ Global R&D; organization to meet the company’s business needs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Technical expert in one or more of the following areas FWI / NODES / Elastic Imaging
Propose, manage, and ensure on-time delivery of all research projects at the Center, or specific research projects in the Global R&D; organization
Lead, motivate, and support people in the research group to successfully deliver their projects
Provide technical support and problem-solving advice to production processing teams on new technologies
Communicate and present new TGS technologies developed by the research team to internal and external clients
Stay abreast of current research in industry and academia
Participate in strategic planning of future imaging technology research and development in accordance with the TGS’ Global Strategy
Coordinate with Global R&D; peers to plan future projects within area of competence and regional expertise
Communicate with TGS’ business units and clients to establish an understanding of stakeholders’ needs
Facilitate relevant training to fulfill stakeholders’ training needs
Assist in the implementation of new technology by delivering training for new modules or processes
Create documentation for software that you develop and any other software that needs documentation
Prepare and submit abstracts for workshops and conferences, as well as review abstracts prepared by other R&D; members where applicable
Responsible and accountable for the health and safety performance of the department and personally investigate and follow up on all reported HSE issues and progress any required corrective actions
Develop and implement a plan that includes job specific HSE instructions for all employees including new or transferred employees and maintain copies of all training records.
Industry recognized expert in R&D; or technology deployment
Ph.D. or M.Sc. degree in Geophysics, Physics or Math preferred, but other related disciplines will be considered.
Extensive experience in one of the following technologies: FWI, NODES, Elastic Imaging, with hands-on programming experience
Consistent publication record in journals like Geophysics or The Leading Edge , and/or presentations at technical conferences, such as the SEG, EAGE, and/or other international conventions on leading-edge technology, such as FWI, NODE and Elastic Imaging
Experience in providing production processing support of newly developed technologies
Experience with UNIX and/or Linux based processing software and workstations
Qualifications, experience and skills:
Minimum 10 years of geophysical R&D; experience
Industry recognized expert in multiple technology areas
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to code in C/C++
Ability to work in a team as well as independently
Strong commercial awareness of processing challenges and dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of TGS clients.
