Group Discovery and Geosciences (GDG) delivers value for Anglo American via safe discovery of new mineral endowment; delivery of step-change operational geosciences in our mines; and quantification and communication of our Mineral Resources and Endowment.


Provide practical structural geology support and advanced 3D modelling expertise for discovery, resource and operational geoscientists in GDG and across Anglo American operations and projects.

Support operations and projects with the implementation of best-practise structural geological standards in mapping, logging, analysis, and 4D interpretation.
Support operations and projects with advanced 3D modelling skills and implement standardized workflows for data capture and integration.
Provide fit-for-purpose structural geology training to operations and projects.
Determine structural controls on mineralization for discovery targeting, resource estimation, and operational geosciences.
Create validated geological and structural 3D models in complex tectonic settings and integrate multi-variate data sets.
Support 3D scenario-based and uncertainty modelling.
Support the testing, development and adoption of new automated geoscience data-capture and sensor technology, and the integration of these new datasets into 3D modelling workflows.
Collaborate with and provide solutions to other disciplines across the group, including geometallurgy, ore control, grade engineering, geotechnical engineering, hydrogeology, mine planning, and strategic planning.

An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors / Honours Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in Geosciences.

Postgraduate qualification (Masters / Doctoral degree or equivalent) in Economic/Structural Geology.
Role-specific knowledge

Expert capabilities in applying structural geological methods and understanding to solve exploration and mining related tasks;
Advanced skills in 3D modelling of structurally complex mineral districts and deposits;
Ability to synthesise multivariate data sets (geological, geochemical, geophysical) to produce integrated interpretations at various scales.
Multi-commodity exploration and mining operations or oil and gas experience.
High numeracy and cognitive ability to think in four dimensions.
Any other requirements to perform the work effectively?

Overseas travel will be required at times.
