Job Description: The role of the Principal Exploration Geoscientist (PEG) is to lead the delivery of multidisciplinary evaluation projects at both regional and prospect scale. The incumbent will utilize existing and developing technologies and proactively drive implementation of new approaches to technical evaluation. The successful applicant will display skillful, multi-disciplinary teamwork and strong geoscience competencies throughout all stages of the X-ORP. All evaluations will be within the mandates governing the X-ORP and DCAF. The incumbent will pro-actively generate or identify new material opportunities for Shell. The PEG will deliver high quality assessments of the sub-surface and be highly skilled at describing the range of outcomes in a clear and robust way so that DEs are enabled to make high quality decisions. It is expected that the PEG will be able to move comfortably between assist and review mode for multiple and sometimes parallel projects.The PEG will also be involved in building vitally important external links with potential partners, institutes and consultants. The incumbent will also be involved in updating the exploration prospects/leads portfolio as well as updates to the Yet-to-Find scope. Coaching staff in PBE opportunity identification techniques as well as mentoring senior staff to develop as team leads is key to this role. Job Requirements: Advanced university degree in Geoscience (M.Sc. or PhD)Minimum of twelve (12+) years experience in subsurface evaluation/exploration work with deep specialist skills in at least one of the following: seismic interpretation, structural geology, sequence stratigraphy, sedimentology/depositional systems, charge modellingProven experience in the core Exploration competences of Regional Evaluation, Seismic Interpretation (2D, 3D) and Play/Prospect Volume & Risking, plus broad experience in assessing opportunities and establishing work programs. Capability at the level of skill or near mastery in PBE methodologies will be required.Proven technical leadership and analytical skills and the ability to clearly communicate detailed geological concepts and uncertainties to a variety of stakeholders. All projects will involve working through others over whom there may be little to no control.The successful applicant should have a nose for value. This is essential to make good use of resources for existing venture work and in recognizing and winning new ventures.Proven strong geologic and geophysical skills in a variety of stratigraphic and structural settings.Excellent workstation skills and ability to provide high quality integrated 2D, 3D and other interpretations.Prime mover in bringing together all aspects of petroleum system analysis into a seamlessly integrated whole.Qualitative assessment and evaluation of QI outcomes, seismic attributes and seismic inversion. Seamless integration into prospect evaluation and maturation. Ability to challenge geophysical outcomes.Excellent understanding of probabilistic ranges and outcomes and the impact on project economics and commerciality.
