Section of Earth and Planetary System Science (EPSS), Natural History Museum, Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen is offering a postdoc position in Geostatistical reservoir modelling starting 1 January 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The position is part of an outcrop analog project aiming at building chalk reservoir models based on a cross-disciplinary effort combining geological, geophysical and geostatistical methods, and spanning heterogeneities at widely different scales. Statistical models have been developed for each regime and combined to one multiscale model to provide a framework for upscaling reservoir models to coarser grids to facilitate reservoir simulations. The postdoc will be using large sets of geological, geophysical and statistical data into a single, detailed geo-model.
geological and geophysical methods in reservoir modeling (including analysis of data from outcrops and boreholes, and seismic data)
theory and application of probabilistic/geostatistical methods in reservoir modeling
numerical implementation of geostatistical algorithms on industrial software platforms used in oil exploration, such as Petrel.
The position is funded by the Danish Hydrocarbon Research and Technology Centre. Model development will take place in close cooperation between Professors Lars Nielsen, Klaus Mosegaard and Lars Stemmerik, University of Copenhagen and DHRTC.
Inquiries about the position can be made to Professor Lars Stemmerik, firstname.lastname@example.org.
