Creates petrophysical models and interpretations from sources such as survey data, well logs, production and fluids data, and core studies both internal and external to EP Energy’s asset base.
Conducts petrophysical field studies to locate, estimate and predict petroleum system properties using integrated analysis of Geological, Geophysical and Engineering data and information.
Applies advanced geological, geophysical, or petrophysical theories, applications and models to explain, predict and interpret data.
Mentors less experienced staff in areas of expertise including Core analysis, Geochemistry, and Wireline logging tools, theory and application.
Leads efforts to investigate and test new technologies to improve capabilities and optimize workflows as well as collaborating with other disciplines in a true team environment.
Provides advice and oversight to coring and logging operations, sample selection and sample testing. Interacts with service company representatives to provide proper evaluation techniques standard with Industry and EP Energy expectations.
Provide support for New Venture and acquisitions opportunities to enhance EP Energy’s portfolio.
Bachelors Degree or better in Geology or related field.
10 years: Minimum: 10+ years related work experience.
Expert knowledge of logging tool physics, measurements, and quality control from all major service companies and the ability to utilize these measurements for resource and play potential.
Experienced in logging program design and field logging operations for various basins both conventional and unconventional.
Expert petrophysical model building for both conventional and unconventional reservoirs including but not limited to porosity, water saturation, permeability, lithology, reserves in place and geomechanics.
Expert practitioner with petrophysical software tools to perform shaly sand, complex lithology, source rock and carbonate petrophysical analyses.
Working knowledge of Interactive Petrophysics software is preferred.
Ability to collaborate with other EP professionals and knowledge of how rock and fluid analyses are utilized in predictive property models, including Frac, 3D Geological, and 3D Reservoir models.
Experience with Core analysis programs and techniques for conventional and unconventional plays.
