Petrophysics Specialist
Job Purpose:
responsible for performance of Petrophysical activities associated with active field surveillance and development including formation evaluation planning,on-site supervision and QC of offshore and onshore wireline logging activities (open and cased hole), integrated analysis of log, core and fluid data, perforation recommendations, maintenance of Petrophysical databases, and integration of Petrophysical results in geologic and engineering models and interpretations.
Other: He/she demonstrates depth, breadth and high quality technical work, and is a mentor and role model. Act as formal Mentor to less experienced staff to develop their capabilities
" Works effectively with reservoir, petroleum, and drilling engineers and rig personnel.
" Participates in well planning and assists with development of pre-drill documentation packages (i.e. designs and provides logging program, identifies potential logging hazards, etc.).
" Performs log analysis using both quick-look "by-hand" methods to support real-time decision making from logs, and advanced "field study quality" interpretations using a petrophysical workstation.
" Provides log analysis results and input to perforation and testing interval recommendations.
" Works with geoscientists and engineers to incorporate log analysis results in interpretations.
" Performs operations activities during drilling (i.e. pre-logging job planning with petrophysical contractors on rig(s), training and monitoring of petrophysical contract personnel, interface with other Geoscience, Engineering, and Drilling personnel).
" Provides on-site supervision, QC, and analysis of wireline logging operations.
" Maintains and ensures accuracy and completeness of petrophysical databases/ catalogs (digital and hard copy).
" Contributes to the enhancement of existing and future petrophysical analysis models.
" Provides input to support development of reservoir surveillance strategies.
" Participates in development of reservoir surveillance logging programs (i.e. develop wireline logging procedure for production, corrosion, and other rigless cased-hole logging activity, identify potential logging hazards, etc.).
" Provides input to support development of rig based and rigless well intervention programs.
" Provides operational and technical support for Wireline Formation Testing (MDT) acquisition programs and data analysis.
" Provides operational and technical support for Production Logging (PLT) acquisition programs and data analysis.
" Provides operational and technical support for Cement Evaluation Logging (CBL/VDL-USIT) acquisition programs and data analysis.
" Provides written input for post-drill well reports.
" Develops scope of work for tendering of petrophysical services and analyzes tenders.
" Monitors petrophysical contractors and invoices.
" Assists with preparation and stewardship of Geoscience Group and Petroleum

Communications and Working Relationships:
Daily verbal reporting to Head of Petrophysics.
Daily interface with other members of the Geoscience Section and Subsurface Group.
Daily RG representative guiding Vendor staff engaged operational activities.
Frequent contact with Geoscience Division Manager.
Problem Solving/Complexity:
Complex decision-making requiring substantial experience, knowledge of local conditions and considerable academic training. Recommendations have the potential to lead to the expenditure or savings of millions of dollars - evaluating the risk/reward profile is of paramount importance.
Decision Making Authority and Responsibility:
Has high degree of discretion on areas to investigate and methodologies to pursue.
Influences decision-making process through technical support and recommendations.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
" Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Petrophysics, Geology, or Engineering from an accredited and recognized university.
" Minimum 20+ years Industry Experience including major integrated oil company
" Minimum of 15 years post-degree, relevant working experience.
" Minimum of 5 years experience mentoring.
" Familiar with offshore operations and safety.
" Minimum of 5 years experience working in a multidisciplinary team.
" Minimum of 5 years carbonate reservoir experience.
" Minimum of 5 years new field development experience.
" Minimum of 5 years experience working with gas reservoirs.
