Incumbents in this position are responsible to perform studies and analyses of rock properties in target reservoirs. Works with multi-disciplinary team utilizing geophysical, stratigraphic, petrologic, petrophysical, geomechanical, biostratigraphic and engineering data in order to analyze and disseminate the understanding of rock properties ensure accurate and efficient implementation approaches to extracting oil and gas from subsurface formations.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
The following represents the majority of the duties performed by the position, but is not meant to be at all-inclusive or nor prevent other duties from being assigned when necessary:
Plans and conducts geological, geophysical and/or petrophysical studies and surveys to locate, estimate and predict oil and gas fields
Maintains geologic interpretations for active drilling
Develops logging programs for development of petrophysical models.
Develops models based on log to core calibrations for open and cased-hole logs for various areas and stratigraphic/reservoir intervals of interest
Maintains petrophysical database and develops related workflows for other petro-technical staff
May negotiate pricing for logging, coring and testing services
May supervise logging or coring operations in the field
Other duties as assigned
Skills & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Geoscience, Engineering or related field; Masters preferred
3 years minimum experience in Petrophysics
Experience with unconventional and conventional resource plays
Knowledge of related software, such as Techlog, Petra, Geographix preferred
Coding experience in Python or R preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be detail oriented with ability to multi-task with attention to accuracy
Must be team player that possess the ability to adapt to a changing and fast paced work environment
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMAND:
Work is typically performed in an office environment. Exposure to conditions such as extreme heat or cold is not likely but possible. If incumbent is required to travel to operations site, personal protective equipment including but not limited to hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame resistant clothing is required. Safety rules including OSHA and DOT requirements are strictly enforced. Some travel may be required.
