The Petrophysical Data Management Analyst (PDMA) is a Houston-based member of the Data Management and Analytics (DMA) organization and a core part of the Subsurface Data Management team. This position will serve as Petrophysical Data Analyst role, subject matter expert in core data and log data, primary point of contact for Petrophysical data management for EOR. Core responsibilities is to analyze the data and implementation of best practices for Petrophysical (log and core) data management, and ensure these data types are validated and correctly loaded to Recall and iPoint. The PDMA will work with Business Unit (BU) Geoscientist, Geotech and Data Leads to ensure data quality and data trust are at its highest level for Oxy. This position draws on the experience and capabilities of an individual to understand and support complex business processes, technical data, data flows and technical applications commonly used within the BUs. The PDMA will actively support the definition of common technical data, data flow and process standards in alignment with BU requirements.

Key Responsibilities
• Coordinate technical data management support required by business units
• Collaborate with Corporate Data Management in the development and support of best practices for technical data management (Subsurface & Operations)
• Lead implementation of Corporate Data Management petrophysical data guidelines, policies, procedures and standards in the Business Units
• Communicate Corporate Data Management vision and strategy to Business Unit technical teams and leadership to ensure alignment
• Subject matter expert, gate-keeper and primary point of contact for Petrophysical data and data management including but not limited to Landmark Recall, Perigon iPoint and LR Synergy Interactive Petrophysics (IP)
• Partner with BU Petrophysicists, Chief of Petrophysics and Subsurface Data management leadership to automate petrophysical data flow from field operations to Subsurface Master Databases through to Landmark OpenWorks and Petrel Studio
• Analyze log and core datasets to ensure completeness and validity of data, and identify appropriate remediation for erroneous datasets
• Monitor and report petrophysical data quality in master and project databases
• Guide Geotechs to ensure correct petrophysical data sets are utilized in project databases
• Create and maintain petrophysical work processes across disciplines within the Business Unit
• Lead special Corporate Data Management projects
• Maintain Recall high-value (XCurves) and OFDB original format data plus other projects and corporate databases as required
• Maintain Ipoint high-value core data and insure that the data in the system of records is trusted and at its highest value.

Qualifications

 Education
• Bachelor of Science degree in Geoscience, Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 10 years of experience managing oil and gas data, including minimum of 5 years’ experience:
• Petrophysical data management
• Knowledge of core data and log data
• Expertise with Landmark Recall, Perigon iPoint, Interactive Petrophysics (IP) and SLB Techlog

Data Management
• Technical data management subject matter expertise with excellent knowledge of data loading techniques commonly used in Oil and Gas
• Knowledge of Petrophysical data (logs, core) generated during drilling, logging and completions operations, and common industry methodologies, tools, standards and processes used to receive, validate and manage these types of data
• Experience with the full lifecycle of well log and core data and a large federated environment
• Excellent working knowledge of drilling, coring and logging operations
• Excellent working knowledge geodetics, downhole units of measure and API numbering standards
• Strong knowledge and understanding of log data, core data, test data, and zonal data, and formats
• Subject Matter Expertise in the use and administration of Recall for well log data management and in Ipoint Core database.
• Experience using MS Office 2013 application suite.
