The Department of Petroleum Engineering at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette invites applications and nominations for the position of Instructor (9-month, Non-Tenure Track.) who will be active educators in their discipline, cultivating a student-centered learning environment that is intellectually curious and civically engaged. Faculty members should pursue instructional innovation informed by high-impact practices, serve as an advisor and mentor to students to encourage success, and collaborate with colleagues to assess and improve curricula. The candidate shall demonstrate ongoing intellectual competence and professional development. Faculty members shall demonstrate institutional citizenship through active engagement at the department, college, university, and professional levels
Candidates must have an earned MS in petroleum engineering or a closely related academic discipline. Candidates must be capable of teaching undergraduate petroleum as well as general engineering courses. Both industrial and teaching experience is of particular interest to the department. Experience in the following areas is highly desirable but not limited to: drilling, drilling fluids, and formation evaluation, reservoir PVT properties, characterization and 3-D visualization, petroleum economics, unconventional gas recovery, and environmental engineering. Economic development activities are encouraged.
Successful candidates must be committed to working effectively with diverse student populations. Applicants are expected to describe their commitment to fostering a diverse educational environment through their research, teaching, and/or service activities.
The petroleum engineering program is ABET-accredited, and is expected to experience significant growth due to recent university and industrial investments. The university offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees.
