Our Houston Research Center focuses on research and innovation in geology, geophysics, reservoir engineering, production technology, drilling, and sensors development to advance the discovery and recovery of oil and gas. Located in Houston’s Energy Corridor, the center neighbors the nation’s leading petroleum engineering universities, labs, manufacturers, and service companies.
Basic Function:
Provide expert technical advice and guidance in a specialized area of petroleum engineering. With regard to specialty, technical qualifications, experience and judgment the candidate is recognized by company management and their peers as equivalent to a first-rate industry consultant.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide expert advice and assistance on operating problems relating to area of expertise
Specify design criteria and relevant operating parameters for development of BI's and/or new projects within area of expertise
Participate in project technical reviews and reviews proposals for new or changed operating procedures on area of expertise to ensure efficient and economic operations
Conduct economic studies on cost analysis as appropriate to resolve alternative causes of action relative to area of expertise
Originate ideas for improvements, develop a basis for required field testing and Management review, analyze results and recommend new or changed procedures and/or facilities
Recommend, design and oversee suitable outside investigations to resolve problems which exceed current engineering knowledge in their specialty
Represent Aramco Services Company (ASC) and Saudi Aramco (SAO) in technical contacts with Shareholders and SAG representatives dealing with company procedures or proposed operations relative to area of expertise
Make presentations to ASC & SAO Management, to Shareholder Program Review, or to various Shareholder Technical Meetings, as appropriate
Represent ASC and SAO in dealings with manufacturers, vendors, outside consultants, etc. within area of expertise
Conduct seminars, prepare manuals, and train and develop ASC engineers and operating personnel in area of expertise
Participate in technical societies and technical groups in area of expertise; represent Aramco on industry committees or specialized groups as appropriate
Perform other related duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
BS in engineering or equivalent technical field required, MS or PhD is desirable,
Intensive industry training including appropriate specialized courses and seminars is expected
Must have at least fifteen (15) years of related experience, including ten (10) years of intensive experience in their specialty
The candidate will be active in related professional societies and will have achieved professional recognition through publications, committee activities, etc.
Must be clearly recognized by both supervisors and colleagues as thoroughly qualified and highly competent in area of expertise
Must have demonstrated ability to communicate ideas clearly to work effectively with others, and to utilize technical knowledge to achieve practical results
Supervisors and Aramco Management must have confidence in the candidates judgment and recommendations
Because of prior contacts and/or industry recognition, Shareholder representatives, SAG personnel and other outside contacts should also recognize the candidates technical expertise
Must be able to represent ASC & Saudi Aramco effectively in such contacts and command technical respect
Must be able to communicate and comprehend both orally and in writing, accurately, clearly and concisely in English at the high level required to perform the job as outlined
Must possess good work habits, a strong work ethic, and be able to adhere to company work hours, policies, and standard business etiquette
