Petroleum Engineer (USA – Houston Office)
Australis Oil & Gas seeks a US based Petroleum Engineer to participate in the development of its
Tuscaloosa Marine Shale and Portugal assets and support our Business Development strategy.
Responsibilities:
Analyzes and organizes all relevant data into a complete history of and plan for future development of oil and gas fields
including cased and open hole logs, pressure and production data, and nodal analysis. Deliverables include maps and well
schematics to illustrate field potential.
Identifies and recommends best practice design for unconventional drilling and completion programs.
Prepares economic models and risk analysis to justify work programs.
Identifies, prioritizes, presents, and monitors oil and gas development and exploitation projects.
Identifies reservoir mechanics and identifies/predicts potential for additional recovery.
Provides expertise to solve complex, non-routine problems in unconventional developments and makes recommendations
for upside or remedial work.
Assists geoscientists with finding, quantifying and developing oil and gas.
Creates annual corporate reserve reports with quarterly updates.
Facilitates and assists support staff as needed to accomplish their job responsibilities.
Constructs unconventional plans of development.
Evaluates economics and profitability of potential projects for the company.
Supports company visions and mission and adheres to the company’s values – loyalty and hard work.
Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.
Maintains employee confidence and protects corporate assets, including intellectual property, by keeping information
confidential.
Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications, establishing
personal networks, and participating in professional associations.
Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:
Eight (8) years minimum oil and gas engineering experience required with demonstrated experience in unconventional
reservoir engineering and working knowledge of completions and production operations.
Conduct detailed reservoir evaluations and studies including integration of geoscientific data.
Available 24 hours per day for international and operational needs.
Maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders.
Skills to complete, multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities through effective time management.
Superior written and verbal communication skills with demonstrable ability to prepare and present results to management.
Proficiency in the use and application of the following software:
Required: PhDWin economic software, Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook) and public data
retrieval
Preferred: Spotfire, Microsoft Access, Skype, Crystal Ball, PETRA, Arc-GIS, Rate Transient Analysis (RTA), Reservoir Evaluation
software including log analysis, nodal analysis and Rate Transient Analysis. Working knowledge of ARIES.
Education:
Required: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year university or college with a degree in petroleum engineering.
