About the Position:
The co-op position is located in Belleville, Illinois. Position will run either January – August 2019 or May – December 2019.
**Student may qualify for a housing stipend if minimum housing stipend requirements are met**
Key responsibilities include:
Contribute, as per abilities and experience, to the development and implementation of department goals.
Provide technical support to both petroleum engineers and field supervisors in data analytics, engineering design, geological characterization, and project management activities within the Ameren Service Territory, which consists of 5 aquifer and 7 depleted gas reservoirs in Illinois.
Plan, design, budget, engineer, and manage gas storage engineering and construction projects related to reliability, safety and individual well and overall field performance.
Create and interpret customizable maps in Petra to assist in reservoir analysis, log correlation, and well location.
Update, create, and interpret wellbore diagrams by use of well histories and application of Well Shadow wellbore diagram software.
Populate technical parameters input, interprets field and well information, and assists engineers with data request(s) for numerical simulation and field related studies.
Observe and oversee well integrity logging activity within assigned field area and recommend necessary remedial well work proposals and procedures.
Assist petroleum engineers in requisitioning and purchasing of materials, planning, designing and cost estimating, related to the construction, operation, and maintenance of gas storage facilities and gas storage wells
Assist with job site safety and follow all applicable Company safety procedures.
Assist petroleum engineers with well permitting and volume determination of weekly inventories of natural gas in underground storage facilities.
Assist with Gas Storage Well Internal Corrosion and Pipeline Integrity activities, which may include design, construction and maintenance observation and pipeline pigging operations.
Identify and implement improvement projects in processes and operations that either control costs and/or improve deliverability to provide flexible natural gas supplies to our customers.
Participate in special projects or tasks as required and instructed.
Work locations will be in an office environment and in field environment, with field construction site visits, and site inspection activities playing an equally important role to office engineering responsibilities.
EDUCATION: Student pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering from an accredited college or university. Will consider Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior or Seniors. Completed course work in engineering through the sophomore level with a Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher is required.
EXPERIENCE: None required, but prior industry experience would be a plus.
Other: Good analytical, communication, and human relations skills. Experience with personal computer programming and operation is desirable, as well as, a foundational knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel preferred. Must be willing to learn additional specialized systems.
