Reporting to the Senior Production Engineer – Swan Hills Assets, and based out of our Judy Creek Production Complex facility, the Petroleum Engineer provides technical and operational engineering support in the efficient and safe extraction of hydrocarbon deposits in large carbonate reservoirs under primary, secondary and enhanced oil recovery methods.Production Enhancement:Develop new and refine current methods to enhance the extraction and transportation of oil and gas. Review well production regularly to find improvement opportunities.Select, maintain, and optimize various artificial lift equipment.Well and lift equipment failure analyses and trend monitoring.Monitor and evaluate reservoir performance, providing proposals to rectify irregular production and injection volumes.Plan and manage the execution, from conception to completion, of surface and subsurface well completion and intervention programs, compliant to all regulatory and company standards.Liaise with Geoscientist and other Engineering disciplines in the planning and implementation of production enhancement projects including, but not limited to, well reactivations and optimizations at both the wellbore and reservoir level.Work with Joint Ventures and Production Accounting to ensure efficient and reliable information sharing.Advise managerial and technical staff on prudent oil and gas field production operations, including preparation of reports and presentations.Participate in the Chemical and Material Integrity meetings and evaluate the production impact of the Integrity programs.Project manage field facility optimization opportunities.Administrative:Set and deliver base production and unit operating expense targets for the Judy Creek fields. Steward the annual operating budget.Assist with well history summary updates for current workover operations and ensure current well servicing information is filed properly on the shared drive.Assist with AER regulatory compliance.Adhere to business processes including but not limited to AFE guidelines, MOC process, material transfers, procurement, and invoicing.Perform other technical duties or special projects as assignedQualifications & ExperienceMinimum 5 years experience in operations and / or well servicing experience and an Engineering degree or 8 plus years experience with a relevant Technologist diplomaBroad knowledge of resources and able to use this knowledge to build operations and maintenance plans.Working knowledge of safety standards and environmental regulations.Experience with budget preparation and forecasting.Able to deliver feedback directly and constructively; consistently receives feedback constructively.Clearly understands the implications of situations and uses sound judgment in problem solving and failure analysis.Demonstrates a high level of communication skills, both written and verbal.Able to analyze data, make appropriate recommendations and communicate analysis results clearly to others.Demonstrates commitment to Safety & Environmental principles and understanding of tools.Skilled with MS Office, Avocet, OFM, and Artificial Lift Design software. Experience with Mosaic or equivalent is a desiredThis position is based out of the Judy Creek Production Complex, located between Swan Hills and Whitecourt Alberta.
