The Ministry of the Economy requires an energetic, self-motivated individual to join the staff as a Petroleum Development Officer in Kindersley for a one year term.
You will be part of a team responsible for reviewing technical applications, inspection, compliance audit, and enforcement work in an assigned area. You will independently conduct inspections and investigations into all facets of oil and gas exploration, drilling and production operations to determine compliance with provincial laws and regulations, engineering and oil and gas resource conservation standards. You will be required to exercise sound judgment in relation to the application of legislation, regulations and Ministry policy and standards for drilling and production in relation to local conditions. You will collect and compile information to identify, investigate and make recommendations and/or take appropriate action to resolve incidents related to the oil and gas industry.
Our candidate of choice will bring knowledge of legislation, policies and programs that govern the oil and gas industry as well knowledge of the upstream petroleum and natural gas industry. You will have strong communication skills in dealing with a variety of stakeholders, industry and co-workers.
The knowledge required for this position would typically be obtained through a technology diploma, engineering or science degree, or an equivalent combination of related education, training and experience.
