WSP is currently initiating a search for a Permitting Geologist Intern for our Houston, Texas office. This opportunity is available for a college student in good standing working towards a degree in mechanical, petroleum, or geological engineering at an ABET accredited program. The internship will be for 2-3 months over the summer break (May-August 2019). The candidate will gain experience in well workovers and mechanical integrity tests of salt caverns used in underground hydrocarbon storage. Duties and Responsibilities: -Support major segments of Underground Injection Control (UIC) projects across contiguous United States. -Assist in the preparation of UIC Class I, II and III well permit applications and no-migration petitions. -Assist in the planning and reporting on UIC Class I and Class II Mechanical Integrity Tests (MITs). -Develop a working knowledge of state and federal UIC regulations, including their development and implementation in-practice. -Assist in overseeing the geological evaluation of drilling wells as well as working with the engineering, land and drilling personnel to support an effective, efficient drilling program. -Prepare schematics and drawings. -Assist with field work. -Use various software including CAD and GIS. -Write reports and other documents. -Other duties as assigned. CURRENT standing as a graduate student actively enrolled in an ABET accredited Engineering or Geology Graduate Program with a minimum GPA of 3.00.
Strong technical writing skills.
Requires strong communication and Microsoft Office skills.
Previous work in the oil and gas industry is preferred.
