Permian Overview

ConocoPhillips and its heritage companies have operated in the Permian Basin for almost 100 years. Across New Mexico and Texas, the company holds conventional positions in the Northwest Shelf and Central Basin Platform, and an unconventional position in the Delaware Basin. At year-end 2018, the company held about 800 thousand net acres across the basin, with net production of 66 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day. Description

The Permian South East New Mexico/Midland Basin/OBO Development Team is seeking a Reservoir Engineer with a background in working development programs, supporting ongoing drilling operations and characterization of new-entry areas. Candidates seeking a transition into Reservoir Engineering may also be considered.

The successful candidate will support oversight of the OBO program, lead the established External Threat/Opportunity evaluation process and provide competitor benchmarking basin trends for the asset team. This is a high exposure role with regular engagement with Corporate Senior Managers and the BU Extended Asset Leadership team.

Responsibilities may include:
Develop Long Range Plan OBO program forecasts
Technical/economic evaluation of OBO ballots and well AFEs
OBO /resource reserves estimating and RCAT reviews (DRTS resource estimating, PDPs, PUDs)
Development of OBO capital/production monthly forecasts for financial outlooks
Facilitate External Threats & Competitor Analysis Senior Management discussions
Collaborate across multiple Corporate and BU functions including Chief Economists’ Office, Commercial, Supply Chain, Stakeholder Engagement, HR, Regulatory, HSE, Land and Development teams to maintain External Threats/Opportunities register
Support development and implementation of OBO data analytics tools
Conduct basin level competitor benchmarking and share actionable insights with asset team
Work closely with Reservoir Characterization team to share and develop competitor benchmarking insights
Qualifications

Basic/Required:
Legally authorized to work in the United States
Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or foreign equivalent
3+ years of experience in exploration and/or development positions in the upstream oil and gas industry
1+ years of experience with either reservoir modeling or financial evaluations
Able to travel approximately 10% of the time

Preferred:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Petroleum Engineering or foreign equivalent
Demonstration of strong interpersonal skills supporting ability to work with multiple individuals with concurrent project requirements/deadlines
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work effectively within multi-functional teams both internally and with OBO partners
Ability to establish networks and relationships with multiple functions outside of immediate area of expertise
Knowledge of subsurface project management, project economics, and prospect portfolio management
Prior work experience in the Permian Basin
Familiarity with Permian competitors and basin trends
Proficient in the use of data analytics processes and tools
