Purpose of the job:

Contribute to good quality business decision making by providing fit for purpose solutions to subsurface problems related to reservoir management activities:

Monitor well production, identify well deviation from expected behavior, investigate reasons and case for action

Plan, monitor, and analyze surveillance activities such as gradient surveys, PLTs, Flow build-ups tests, isochronal testing

Participate in multi-disciplinary well reviews and assessment of remedial and optimizing actions.

Interact with operations, facilities, asset management to identify solutions to reservoir management issues.

Work with other Subsurface Specialists and other team members to ensure that appropriate data is gathered and processed, suitable models are built and calibrated, potential solutions evaluated and recommendations are made

Witness data acquisition in the field on an occasional basis

Assist with both Reservoir and Petroleum Engineering aspects of reservoir management but with a strong focus on Petroleum Engineering elements (completions, lift, interventions)

Selected candidate will display excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and an eagerness to be a contributing member of a highly effective team of professionals


Core Elements of Job & Key Performance Indicators:

  • Model well and analyze well behavior using a rage of techniques such as: trend analysis, material balance, nodal analysis, pressure transient / rate transient analysis.
  • Develop and maintain project databases for current and legacy reservoir management information
  • Assimilate petroleum engineering data and integrate with other discipline data to support reservoir characterization studies, stimulation, well targeting for improved completion, production results and practices.
  • Comply with SEPIs function standards, consult and seek endorsement of work results from appropriate function.
  • Represent company interests in external dealing with contractors, consultants and industry forums


Qualifications and Specific experience required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum / Reservoir Engineering or other Science/Engineering with a strong numerical component
  • Strong computer literacy, including the use of personal computers and related software for data management including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Access database
  • Must be efficient and able to meet deadlines while managing multiple assigned projects, as well as be able to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English
  • Strong capability in using MS Office software and collaborative applications
  • Ability to work alone under own initiative and in close collaboration in multidisciplinary teams
  • Must be goal-oriented and demonstrate willingness to learn new tasks and applications


  • Minimum 5 years of Petroleum/Reservoir Engineering or related engineering/upstream experience combined with appropriate petroleum engineering training
  • Demonstrated ability to approach and solve new problems
  • Strong physical / engineering understanding preferably in the oil and gas industry
  • Experienced working as a member of a multidisciplinary team
