The Role:Provide operational geological support for well operations as a key player in multi-disciplinary well planning and well execution teams. Accountable for planning, pore pressure assessment, government permitting and effective implementation of geological well programs and reporting/data streaming thereof. Deliverables are permission to drill, geological prognosis and geological final well report/complog. Areas of Responsibility Competence Level: • Deliver as a key player in multi-disciplinary well planning and teams: pore pressure/fracture gradient analysis, temperature profile, geological 1-page summary and review of offset wells highlighting key challenges (and mitigations). • Compile all data and the technology required to achieve well objectives into geological prognoses and supplementary programs. Liaise with vendors to ensure high quality and timely service. • Agree the critical decisions/contingencies of the execution phase to ensure that casing points, section TDs and all data acquisition operations remain consistent with objectives. Work closely with drilling team to represent the views of the geological team. • Act as the single point in communications between office staff and the geological service providers on the rig (wellsite geologists, mudloggers, LWD and others). • Ensure that daily reports and data (real time and static) are quality controlled and available to all stake holders • Compile all well results (notably FWR and final complog) and satisfy defined OGA data requirements. • Help mentor, guide and support longer members of subsurface community.The Company:Our Client uses its pioneering spirit to responsibly deliver energy to the world. With more than 30,000 employees, our Client works worldwide to consistently deliver top performance, value and to maintain the companys global marketEssential Skills / Qualifications:• Excellent understanding of offshore operations gained by extensive rig-site experience as a Wellsite Geologist (required) and a mudlogger (preferred) or LWD engineer/other similar role • Able to manage reports (e.g. Wellsite Geologist) and 3rd party vendors • Familiar with GEO log drawing package – able to produce accurate logs and geological 1-pagers • Self-sufficient pore analysis a great advantage, as a minimum a good understanding of pore pressure should be developed. • Knowledge of HPHT wells and / or geo-steering an advantage • Good basic log interpretation skills/basic petrophysics • Good knowledge of Well Operations • Up-to-date knowledge of LWD, wireline and other technologyDesirable Skills / Qualifications:Qualifications • Degree qualified Geoscientist (BSc or MSc)About Fircroft:Fircroft has been placing people in specialist technical industries for approaching half a century, focusing on mid to senior level engineers for contract and permanent roles worldwide.
