Primary Job Function ExxonMobil is interested in finding outstanding operations geoscientists with a strong background in drill well planning and execution and the earth sciences. Specifically, we are looking for an experienced professional with a minimum of 7 years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry.
Job Role Responsibilities An Operations Geoscientist at ExxonMobil can expect to be actively involved in both the planning and execution of a wide range of drill wells in a variety of exploration, development and production settings.  Operations Geoscientists are engaged in the management and mitigation of geologically driven risks that are associated with or may impact drill well operations.  ExxonMobil Operations Geoscientists are expected to perform a variety of tasks including, but not limited to:

Primary Geoscience interface with Drilling Rig Supervisors / Superintendents and other rig and venture personnel during drilling operations
Primary Geoscience interface with 3rd party geoscience service providers (e.g. mud logging, Logging While Drilling (LWD), Wireline (WL), core handling/processing)
Generate Daily Geologic Report 
Prepare pressure surveillance/pressure hunt protocols, rotation schedules (if applicable), communications and reporting protocols, data management plans
Steward change management requirements for deviations from plan
Develop operational decision trees
Describe cuttings samples/core chips/shows while drilling
Summarize relevant mud logging, LWD/WL logging, and coring activities
Quality control and distribute daily deliverables from 3rd party geoscience contractors
Quality control and post daily reports, log plots, and digital data to static file server for BU, partner, & government access prior to daily reporting cutoff
Inventory mud logging consumables weekly and confirm that gas calibrations are kept current (generally performed weekly)
Inventory and inspect (tool sketches, ID, OD, weight, etc.) all WL tools prior to logging jobs
Maintain Composite Log while drilling for timely inclusion in End of Well Report
Maintain daily activity log to ensure continuity with opposite tour and back-to-back
Quality control of data (logging, mud logging, coring, directional control)
Provide ongoing assessment of the impacts of operations on data
Logging at testing operations
Mudlog interpretation and integration
Geosteering – planning and operations support
Verbal presentations and written reports
Workflow / process model enhancements
Mentoring of less experienced staff
Supervise / coordinate wellsite geologists

Job Requirements
BA/BS, MA/MS and/or PhD in Geology or Geophysics (or related fields)
Minimum of 7 years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in operations including significant rig based exposure
Strong analytical as well as operational background and skills
Demonstrated leadership, adaptability, and ability to work in a multi-functional team
Effective communication skills, with a commitment to high safety and ethical standards
Ability to undertake rotational or expatriate assignments

Preference will be given to candidates with:

Significant experience from exploration to production
Significant experience in operations management, pressure surveillance and geosteering applications
Experience in multi rig operations
