Operations Geologist - 24 Month Contract - 28/28 Rotation - Onshore bnased role
" Ensure that all aspects of well design, well placement and formation evaluation, from early planning, execution, acquisition, receipt and interpretation of the data, for all operated wells (Fields and Exploration), are coherent with the well objectives and that achievements yield value-for-money.
" Ensure that all aspects of Formation Evaluation (FE), from early planning, execution, acquisition, receipt and interpretation of the data, for the wells the job holder is assigned to, yields value for money, under the supervision of the Head of Subsurface Operations Geology.
" Acting as main operational point of contact internally and for all geological service companies involved in the drilling of wells and ensuring that contracted services are delivered as requested.
" Maintain vigilance and guarantee safety in all operated activities related to geological services.
" Ensure the consolidation in patrimonial database and archives of the well related geological and petrophysical interpretations and ensure their fast performance to facilitate decisions (drilling, coring, logging, testing, production, well abandonment…)
" Frequently important operational decisions may be taken without consulting management if situation is considered to be within the area of expertise
The strategy for well preparation and well operation follow up together with the evaluation of the geological formations drilled have a significant impact of the safety of the well and the economics / global cost of the Field .
Approximately 5% up to 10% of the global costs of the wells correspond to services related to geology and to the evaluation of the formations/reservoirs drilled.
The impact can be significant on OPEX, and in some cases may results in being forced to re-drill a well in case of poor geosteering, bad monitoring of drilling and geological parameters or in case of wrong interpretations due to a poor data acquisition.
" Job holder will ensure efficient well planning coordination to fulfil development objectives
" Job holder will ensure efficient operational organization for well data acquisitions to fulfil well objectives.
" Job holder will forecast and validate the assessment of geological risks while drilling
" Job holder will coordinate and supervise Wellsite Geologist at rigsite to ensure smooth running of operations
Impact on well cost: 1 MUSD to 2 MUSD per well depending on well complexity and well data acquisition.
