Wood is currently recruiting for an Operations Geologist on a 4x4 rotational basis for the ExxonMobil project located in Iraq.The contract is for 1 year, renewable annually based on business needs.Assist in geological planning of drilling projects and preparation of pre-drill documents including detailed drillwell prognosis charts and formation evaluation programProvide support to the FOD geologic operations advisor for all aspects of well-site geological operation to ensure drillwell objectives are safely metProvide input for tendering and contract preparation, with a focus on formation evaluation services (e.g. Log while drilling - LWD and wire line logging, coring, core analysis, sample analysis etc.)Liaison between well-site geologists and office team at all stages of drilling projects. Facilitate daily communication with Drilling and well-site geologists. Attend drilling rig calls and meetings.Mentor and provide support to well site geologists, including quick-look interpretation of geological and formation evaluation dataParticipate in pre-spud meetingsReview and Quality Control (QC) of daily drilling, mud logging, and well-site geologist reportsTroubleshoot issues that may arise while drilling and loggingLiaise with the formation evaluation team members to coordinate wire-line contractors. This includes service call-out, invoice checking and service quality reviews etc. as requiredHelp ensure geological well data are compiled in a timely manner, properly distributed, and places in appropriate digital repositoriesEnsure preparation and delivery of Final Well Report according to FOD protocolsAssist in preparation and delivery of geologic operations training material for the FOD well-site geologistsAssist in peer reviews and lessons learned meetings for drilling projects as required
Skills / Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum of Bachelors degree or equivalent in geological sciences10 year experience in operations geologistSkillsAnalytical skills / problem solvingCommunication and interpersonal skills; fluency in written and spoken EnglishExperience with well-site operations is required, including logging and coring operationsSystemsMicrosoft Excel, Word, PowerpointPetrel Well Correlation and Model Interrogation
