About the Position
The Operations Geologist is responsible for all facets of successfully geosteering the horizontal well bore within the parameters specified by the client including planning, execution and post-well analysis.
•Communicate the pre-job data requirements to the client.
•Consolidate and QC the incoming data and build the corresponding geosteering models.
•Monitor real-time data and provide real-time interpretation.
•Provide geosteering updates and make recommendations as required by the client regarding optimum wellbore placement.
•Submit reports on a daily basis, or as required, to both internal and external stakeholders.
•Integrate all associated data and prepare an end-of-well report.
•Ensure that all deliverables are created and supplied to the client in a timely and highly-quality manner.
•Communicate in a professional and courteous manner with clients.
•Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality.
•Observe established safety regulations and comply with all Reservoir Group health and safety policies and procedures.
•Other duties and projects as may be assigned by the manager from time-to-time.
•Set work rotations consist of working 12-hour shifts on both days and nights.
•Must be able to work fourteen days in a row prior to taking days off.
•This position does not require an individual to lift more than 15lbs on a regular basis.
•The ideal candidate would have:
•A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in geology, geophysics, petrophysics, or related discipline.
•A minimum of two years of professional experience with a mudlogging / geosteering service company or E&P operator.
•Geosteering experience using atleast one of the following softwares: Stoner Engineering Software, BHL Boresight, DynaView, or StarSteer.
You would also be/have:
•Excellent oral and written communication skills.
•Organized and able to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment.
•Capable of working independently or without close supervision.
•Ability to visualize in 3D.
•Highly computer literate, and able to learn new programs in a timely manner.
