About the Position
Operations geologist consultants are experienced degreed geologists who are contracted out to clients to work in their office. The position requires being on-call during all drilling operations. They are involved in all facets of the oil well: including mapping using geologic mapping software; development planning and identification of drilling locations; and assisting the drilling and geology team in the planning, execution and post-well analysis of an oil well.
Member of a multidisciplinary team tasked to design and execute horizontal and high oil wells.
Responsible for performing pre-job planning, geosteering operations during the drilling phase, end-of-well analysis with recommendations, and any support needed to satisfy the team’s requirements / needs.
Generate pre-drill packages.
Conduct drilling operations including monitoring the well, picking casing, core points, tops, faults, contacts and TD.
Responsible to ensure proper wellbore placement by providing target strategy and geosteering support from KOP to TD of lateral while navigating structurally complex/faulted areas.
Conduct pre-spud through post-well meetings as needed with drilling and geology teams to discuss plan and strategy throughout process of well.
Responsible for coordination and oversight of wellsite mudlogging, wireline operations and other services.
Present technical work.
Ensure that all deliverables are created and supplied to the client in a timely and highly-quality manner.
Generate maps and cross sections using client specific geologic software.
Define and evaluate prospects and leads.
Observe established safety regulations and comply with all Reservoir Group & Clients’ health and safety policies and procedures.
Other geologic duties and projects may be assigned by the client as needed.
On-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year during ALL drilling operations.
Work in office during client’s normal business hours or as needed.
The ideal candidate would have:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in geology, geophysics, petrophysics, or related discipline.
A minimum of four years of professional experience with a service company or E&P operator
Geosteering and operations experience preferred.
You would also be/have:
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Organized and able to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment.
Capable of working independently or without close supervision.
Ability to visualize in 3D.
Highly computer literate, and able to learn new programs in a timely manner.
