Operations Engineer - Facilities/Production

Vermilion has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Operations Engineer. This position requires experience in facilities and production operations. The ideal candidate will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand our current facilities / production practices, utilize prior experience and new technology to optimize production, lower cost and exceed annual program goals.
Although based in Denver, the successful candidate will be expected to travel a minimum of 25% of his or her time to the field (Newcastle, WY and Wight, WY). This position will report directly to the Operations Manager in the USBU.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the well surveillance process to identify and carry out production improvement opportunities on wells, facilities, and operations.
Identify workover/recompletion and artificial lift candidates.
Experience in identifying failure modes and providing solutions to prevent future occurrences.
Generate AFEs, cost estimates, economics and procedures for workovers/recompletions.
Collaborate with completions and field staff to research, select or design artificial lift systems for horizontal and vertical wells.
Provide production engineering support for new well design and operation.
Work closely with the field to optimize artificial lift methods and facility performance.
Recommend modifications and/or investments to upgrade systems to reduce operating costs.
Lead periodic wells reviews with reservoir engineers, completions engineers, and field personnel.
Conduct post audit reviews of workover costs and well performance to validate economic assumptions.
Develop and maintain productive relationships with Construction, Drilling, Completions, Production Operations, Development and service providers to ensure they are delivering on annual program goals.
Review current facilities to understand their design, work with internal and external stakeholders to make modifications to improve reliability, lower cost and meet Vermilion HSE standards.
Provide engineering support for all future facility builds. This support will include design, procurement, construction/installation and commissioning.
Work with our development and accounting groups to track capital, opex and production versus annual goals. Provide input for future budgets, reserves and A&D; projects as needed.
Insure that Vermilion HSE standards and policies are being followed by participating and/or leading site inspections, hazard id’s, job observations, annual HSE training and attending monthly HSE meetings with our field staff.
Essential Experience & Skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Aries, WellView, ProdView and SROD or equivalent engineering software programs
Working knowledge of pad construction, drilling and completions
Able to work successfully on multiple projects simultaneously
Efficient and precise communication (written and oral) as the position requires interaction with team members, service companies and regulatory agencies
Familiar with well and reservoir surveillance; able to recognize performance deficiencies and develop solutions to mitigate
Strong team player with the ability to build relationships and work constructively with others to achieve business goals
Education & Work Experience
Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
5+ years of relevant facilities and production engineering experience
