Apache is seeking a Petroleum Engineer with a minimum of 10-15 years of experience to provide engineering expertise to the identification and analysis of various resource and unconventional plays in North America. Successful candidate will be responsible for providing engineering support to the business units’ exploration activities primarily through interfacing with the various engineering disciplines (reservoir, drilling, completion and production) to ensure successful exploration, appraisal and delineation of exploration projects. In addition the petroleum engineer will participate in research programs to further develop the ability of the organizations efforts in exploration.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will support exploration projects throughout North America via the integration of best engineering practices in multi-disciplinary projects. Experience in unconventional plays is required. Additional required skills include: the ability to collect, manage, interpret and integrate engineering data. Current knowledge of Reservoir, Drilling, Completion and Production Engineering technologies is essential. Knowledge of well test and drill stem test analyses is critical. The candidate will participate in multidisciplinary projects and help present defensible business recommendations to senior management including being a part of the team that implements full field development plans.

Job Qualifications:

Education: Minimum of a B.S. in Engineering, and relevant experience (MS and/or PhD preferred)

Experience: The successful candidate must have a minimum of 10-15 years petroleum industry experience as an Engineer. The candidate should have experience leading technical / project teams, and interacting closely with other engineers and geoscientists.

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:

  • Expert knowledge of conventional and unconventional reservoirs and their analysis
  • Ability to make technically and economically sound recommendations with incomplete information essential.
  • Excellent communication skills - present formally to management and effectively communicate work procedures to relevant personnel.
  • Ability to work within an integrated multi-disciple team.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • A mature and professional attitude - capable of directing the work of others and being directed as required.
