Natural Gas Reservoir Engineering 2 or 3 Non-Union Position Engineering; Portland, OR Regular; Full-Time Posting #50181566 November 13, 2015 NW Natural offers a Natural Gas Reservoir Engineering opportunity to interested applicants. The following is a summary of the position specifics. Purpose of Position: Plans, develops and coordinates subsurface development of underground natural gas storage projects. Provides operational support for multiple underground storage fields in Oregon and California.
Position Essential Functions: •Oversees the geologic and reservoir engineering aspects of underground natural gas storage field development. •Collects, evaluates and analyzes storage field pressure and inventory data for inventory verification studies, asset reliability evaluations and capacity expansion potential. •Provides operational support by determining appropriate injection and withdrawal well flow rates for the prevailing reservoir conditions. •Selects the right combination of wells for efficient reservoir fillage and drainage as well as maximum flow rates. •Determines injection and withdrawal flow profiles for both wells and reservoirs. •Manages the sequencing of multiple reservoirs to provide optimal storage field operational capacity and reliability. •Performs field simulations and computer modeling to predict field capacity and well deliverability. •Conducts well tests and surveys to determine well condition, functionality and longevity. •Monitors observation wells for aquifer dynamics and storage gas losses. •Prepares annual production forecasts, remaining reserve estimates and ultimate production estimates. •Interfaces with geological and engineering consultants and regulatory agencies. •Supports Company’s commitment to a culture of safe work practices. •Participates as a subject matter expert for external audit preparation, data gathering in order to demonstrate compliance.
Position Qualifications: •Undergraduate degree in Reservoir, Geological or Petroleum Engineering. •3+ years’ experience (Level 2) or 7+ years’ experience (Level 3) in storage facility engineering required (natural gas experience preferred). •Ability to register as a Professional Engineer (PE) is highly desired. •Thorough understanding of engineering principles and theories and advanced technical expertise in geological and reservoir engineering. •Broad-based experience with well drilling and completion, field production and operations, geophysics and geology, economic evaluations, and corporate budgets. •Experience with reservoir modeling, inventory verification studies, and design and analysis of flow, pressure drawdown and pressure buildup tests. •Drilling and completion experience encompassing all phases from well planning through first production/operations including experience with horizontal wells and gravel pack completions. •Strong technical, project management, verbal communication and writing skills. •Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record. Must obtain a valid Oregon/ Washington driver's license within 90 days if current valid license is from another state. •Some travel required. •Subject to random drug testing.
