JOB DESCRIPTION
The GC Tracer Operator is required to provide evaluation of formation and fluid gas signatures to assist the GCT Analyst in providing the Client with real-time decision making, by collating the GC-Tracer based gas data with LWD, MLS and WLL data. Ensuring that the quality of services supplied conform to Client and regional Weatherford SLS specifications and HS&E; standards.
It is the personal responsibility of the GCT Operator to be conversant with current standard operating procedures at all times.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in the installation, maintenance and calibration of the GCT system/ Mud logging and ancillary equipment ensuring that equipment is operated correctly.
Monitoring and evaluation of geological/gas analysis, providing safe and efficient drilling of the well and ensuring immediate, accurate and detailed reporting to the Client Representative.
Produce accurate and timely reports and all log types, as required by the Client, ensure data confidentiality is maintained, especially in regard to “tight hole” arrangements.
Confirm reporting procedure with the GCT Operator/ Mud Logger so that in their absence the appropriate personnel can be informed of any unwarranted changes in gas levels, gas ratios, samples which are of geological or well safety significance.
Report and liaise with the Client on an on-going basis with relation to formation and reservoir evaluation.
Maintain accurate up to date records with all relevant information recorded in a clear and legible manner and evaluated both on a real-time and off-line basis.
Maintain a detailed daily diary (in standard format), recording rig and GCT operations/problems, ensure relevant mud system changes are noted.
Ensure that all well logs are kept up to date, including entering geological information when provided by Wellsite Geologists/MLS, and drilling/mud information.
Ensure all necessary documents and records are completed accurately and filed within the GCT ‘Well Data’ folder structure and that Mud Logging charts are annotated and accurate.
Clean the GCT probe at each connection and make frequent mud temperature checks to ensure ga
Perform equipment maintenance for the GCT system and ancillary equipment as per standard GCT procedures. Mud Logging maintain the gas detectors and ancillary equipment/systems.
Assist the GCT Senior Operator/ Mud Logger in the routine calibration of sensors and maintaining calibration records to ensure that all equipment is performing to the specified requirements of the Client.
Assist the GCT Senior Operator/ Mud Logger in updating inventory of spare equipment, consumables and defective or damaged equipment in the logging unit.
Assist the GCT Senior Operator/ Mud Logger and Service Engineer in rigging up/down and running cables, and installing equipment in a safe and orderly manner, observing rig operations and safety requirements at all times.
Perform equipment troubleshooting according to competency whenever necessary.
Assist the GCT Senior Operator/Mud Logger in ensuring that final well reports, plots and logs are completed at TD.
Promote the corporate HS&E; policies and programs and ensure safe working conditions of all personnel involved in operations within designated area.
Report actual or near accident and injury.
Ensure all necessary permits and permissions are obtained prior to starting any installation/maintenance.
Assist the Management in investigating incidents/accidents to help determine root causes, recommend corrective & preventive measures.
Follow standard procedures and programs at all times to maintain quality.
Complete nonconformance Reports where appropriate and forward to local operations and GCT quality manager.
The following reports, datasets must be produced as per standard procedure and format, as a minimum:
i. Well logs, with appropriate annotation
ii. Gas data in specified GCT spreadsheet format (and associated drilling/mud data)
iii. Calibration check reports
iv. GCT-Probe test reports
v. GCT-Mud Fingerprint reports

QUALIFICATIONS
The GCT Operator is required to have: BSc (Hons) Geo Science or Geo Chemistry
ANAX Software Course
Completed GC Tracer Basic Technical Training Course (Level 1 - O)
Completed GC Tracer Hydrocarbon Evaluation and Interpretation (HEI) Course
Completed GC-Tracer: Introduction to Reporting and Interpretation
The GCT Operator shall have a minimum of three (3) years mudlogging experience within oil industry.
Completion of GC Tracer Competency Level I
Capable of producing quality reports associated with project progress.
Good communications skills, both written and verbal.
Excellent computer skills
Preferred:
The GCT Operator will have an understanding of Gas Chromatograph (GC), Gas Chromatograph Mass Spectrometer (GCMS) or MS equipment, ability to analyze and report findings. Also an understanding of gas ratio analysis such as Gas While Drilling (GWD) and Gas ratio analysis at wellsite for reservoir evaluation.

Flexible and adaptable with a positive approach to changing scenarios, and ability to work under own initiative. A team player, with a willingness to promote own and others development.
