Reporting to the Lead - Production Geology, the Production Geologist will collaborate directly with operations, planning, and the plant to deliver accurate geological information to mine operations with the goal of providing a consistent blend to the plant.
**Please note: The shift rotation for this role is 8 days, on 6 days off.**
This position is based at CNRL Horizon site, north of Fort McMurray, Alberta and is eligible for:

HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK?
Validate the bitumen grade reporting to the plant on a daily basis.Confirm the Geology model reflects the current blend with daily field tours.Make material calls when necessary.Create executable mine benches that follow ore and waste contacts defined by the Geology model where possible.Ensure the bench elevations are accurate and operationally executable.Assist with the weekly reconciliation of the bitumen balance between Mining, Extraction and UpgradingPilot projects to improve the process of reconciling the bitumen balance.Work with the Geotechnical group to assist with material classification for daily and weekly planning.Work with a variety of business groups including: Extraction, Tailings, Reclamation, Regulatory and Mine Engineering to ensure correct material classification from the model.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of B.Sc. Degree in Geoscience is required.Minimum 2-5 years of directly related experience.Familiar with database management and geology modeling.Eligible for registration with APEGA.Knowledge of the Stratigraphy of the Lower McMurray formation would be considered an asset.Demonstrated ability in database management and 3D modelling concepts.Previous experience core logging, working in Production Geology and/or modelling the McMurray formation would be considered an asset.Prior experience working on non-routine technical assignments with minimal supervision.
