Tally Energy Services has an opening for a Drilling Motors Engineer in Houston, Texas, to support a downhole motor product line. Primary duties will include:
Evaluate existing designs to determine areas of performance/reliability improvements and appropriate cost targets; make recommendations & implement plans;
Select and evaluate mechanical components and materials;
Design new and/or modify existing products following company or industry defined standards;
Validate product performance through laboratory and field testing;
Prepare detailed reports to document engineering analysis and testing;
Provide technical support to manufacturing, field operations and other Tally groups during development, commercialization and sustainment phases of tool life cycle;
Complete and revise technical documentation for motors;
Recommend and implement improvement programs and processes to reduce non-productive time without compromising quality and safety;
Know and understand Tally Energy Services Policy and comply with documentation procedures;
Must understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of Tally Energy Services;
Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.
Bachelor of Engineering degree (mechanical or petroleum preferred);
Minimum of 5 years of cognate experience;
Strong knowledge of the mud motor industry, trends in the directional drilling industry, and trends in the power section market;
Deep industry network to include key vendors and suppliers;
Oilfield manufacturing experience, specifically related to Mud Motors is highly preferred;
Ability to plan scheduled tasks within guidelines set by senior personnel;
Ability to work and communicate effectively with senior personnel. internal and external customers & vendors;
Demonstrated strong ability to work independently;
Ability to author technical reports;
Technical skills including experience in CAD (3-D modelling and 2D drafting), and the utilization of Finite Element Analysis tools in a design & build environment;
Demonstrated advanced problem solving skills with respect to Applied Mechanics, Engineering Design, and Technology Development;
Design and/or maintenance experience with positive displacement motors, bearing, and/or transmission systems.
This is a full time and exempt position located in Houston, Texas. Successful background check required. We offer competitive base salary with bonus and benefits. Initial training for approximately two weeks will require valid passport with travel to Edmonton, Canada.
