Description

The Reservoir Characterization Manager is responsible for developing both Encana’s current known assets in the Eagle Ford, as well as discovering additional upside targeting or recovery potential. This person will lead professionals whose primary work includes integrated reservoir characterization studies, field development, and opportunity identification. The successful candidate must be able to recognize and act on opportunities through sound geological, geophysical, reservoir engineering and business reasoning, and translate these opportunities into commercial results. The position requires effective leadership and communication of reservoir understanding applied to spacing, stacking, and completions designs across multiple disciplines to help ensure the execution of business goals, assist in optimization of development plans, and maximize asset value. The Reservoir Characterization Manager will be expected to collaborate with Geology and Reservoir Engineering Chiefs groups, with peer groups working other Encana assets, and with industry peers, to help drive innovation within the Eagle Ford group and Encana.
The position reports to the Sr. Manager of Development, Western Operating Area and is located in Denver, Colorado.
Responsibilities:
provide leadership and supervision of Reservoir Characterization team
assess upside potential on technical and strategic levels
alignment with Operations to combine operational data gathering, well performance success, data management including trades and competitor intelligence
maintain a sound organizational plan to ensure technical expertise, professional development and appropriate staffing levels
communicate with high level of expertise in areas of geology, petrophysics and reservoir engineering
demonstrate core values (One, Agile, Driven)
apply business acumen to the results of technical work
execute strategies that achieve corporate goals
manage multiple concurrent projects
develop strong working relationships with management peers
additional special projects and duties as directed by management

Qualifications:
15-20 years experience with focus in reservoir appraisal, reservoir engineering, geology, geophysics, petrophysics, and operations
experience working in geoscience discipline with a broad-based level of technical expertise; a minimum of 5+ years of supervisory experience and mentoring technical staff is a plus
experience leading multiple, complex projects simultaneously
experience with unconventional resources, required; Eagle Ford experience a plus
significant experience with both asset development and exploitation
demonstrated ability to grow resource base
knowledge of core geoscience principles (ex. petroleum geology, stratigraphy, depositional systems, structure, geophysics, geochemistry)
ability to understand and manage risk; comfortable making decisions without all known information; able to recognize and recommend solutions to complex problems
demonstrates organizational leadership skills
proven success in working across diverse teams to accomplish shared goals
excellent written and oral communication abilities and presentation skills
ability to effectively influence, lead adaptive change, foster accountability and present general information in individual and group settings across all levels of the business
